After breakfast , meet your guide and begin your journey to Sinaia, a mountain resort in Prahova County at the foot of the Bucegi Mountains. In Sinaia visit Peles Castle – a Neo-Renaissance castle placed in an idyllic setting, Pelisor Palace and Sinaia Monastery. Continue with visiting the famous Bran Castle (Dracula’s Castle) situated in the village with the same name. On the way to Brasov visit Rasnov Fortress, founded around 1225 by the Teutonic Knights, sitting among fir forests and commanding a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains. Overnight in Brasov.
Start the morning with a tour of Brasov City, one of the seven major Transilvanyan Saxon towns. Here you will find a plethora of architectural delight and lush colours, which contrasts perfectly with the green wooded hills that surround it. In the company of our cultural guide you will stroll around the beautiful Town Hall Square and visit the famous Black Church, Brasov Fortress, Schei Gate, Ecaterina Gate from 1540 and the rope street the narrowest street in Europe. Then depart to Harman and Prejmer, two fortified churches, UNESCO world heritage site Visit Viscri a picturesque Saxon village, owell known for the fact that Prince Charles of Wales, who felt in love with the unspoiled natural beauties of Transilvania, bought and restored 18th century Saxon houses here to help protect the unique way of life and promote sustainable tourism. Then depart for Sighisoara , the most beautiful and the best preserved fortified town in Transilvania. Overnight in Sighisoara.
After breakfast enjoy a tour of Sighisoara historic center, a very nice and romantic place, filled with history – clock tower is must as well as the wood staircase bringing you to the church. Sighisoara, a Saxon town dating back to the 13th century, is today on UNESCO World Heritage list and is also the alleged birthplace of Vlad Tepes, the “Impaler”. Continue the journey to Targu Mures well known for its architecture (The Culture Palce, the Ortho- dox Cathedral) and for the Zoo (the second largest in Romania). The next interesting stop will be Colibita Lake – “a sea in the mountains” – followed by Tihuta Pass, made famous by Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula. Leave Tihuta, seat back and enjoy the journey passing through the ever beautiful hills and forests up to Moisei, a wooden church that hosted a monk church with an important role for the Romanians in Maramures. Overnight in Viseu de Jos.
From Sibiu to Bucharest, the way leads up through spectacular Olt valley, where you’ll stop and visit Cozia Monastery. In the evening transfer to airport for your return flight.
