Bucharest

Arrive at Henri Coanda International Airport. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon explore the town and enjoy the very best of Bucharest: Romanian Athenaeum,Triumph Arch, Village Museum, Grigore Antipa National Museum of Natural History, Palace of Parliament, The National Museum of Art, National Library. Day 1

Bucharest – Sinaia – Bran - Brasov

After breakfast , meet your guide and begin your journey to Sinaia, a mountain resort in Prahova County at the foot of the Bucegi Mountains. In Sinaia visit Peles Castle – a Neo-Renaissance castle placed in an idyllic setting, Pelisor Palace and Sinaia Monastery. Continue with visiting the famous Bran Castle (Dracula’s Castle) situated in the village with the same name. On the way to Brasov visit Rasnov Fortress, founded around 1225 by the Teutonic Knights, sitting among fir forests and commanding a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains. Brasov – Harman – Prejmer - Viscri – Sighisoara

Start the morning with a tour of Brasov City, one of the seven major Transilvanyan Saxon towns. Here you will find a plethora of architectural delight and lush colours, which contrasts perfectly with the green wooded hills that surround it. In the company of our cultural guide you will stroll around the beautiful Town Hall Square and visit the famous Black Church, Brasov Fortress, Schei Gate, Ecaterina Gate from 1540 and the rope street the narrowest street in Europe. Then depart to Harman and Prejmer, two fortified churches, UNESCO world heritage site Visit Viscri a picturesque Saxon village, owell known for the fact that Prince Charles of Wales, who felt in love with the unspoiled natural beauties of Transilvania, bought and restored 18th century Saxon houses here to help protect the unique way of life and promote sustainable tourism. Then depart for Sighisoara , the most beautiful and the best preserved fortified town in Transilvania. Overnight in Sighisoara.

Day 3

Sighisoara -Tg Mures – Colibita – Tihuta – Cascada Cailor - Moisei - Viseu

After breakfast enjoy a tour of Sighisoara historic center, a very nice and romantic place, filled with history – clock tower is must as well as the wood staircase bringing you to the church. Sighisoara, a Saxon town dating back to the 13th century, is today on UNESCO World Heritage list and is also the alleged birthplace of Vlad Tepes, the “Impaler”. Continue the journey to Targu Mures well known for its architecture (The Culture Palce, the Ortho- dox Cathedral) and for the Zoo (the second largest in Romania). The next interesting stop will be Colibita Lake – “a sea in the mountains” – followed by Tihuta Pass, made famous by Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula. Leave Tihuta, seat back and enjoy the journey passing through the ever beautiful hills and forests up to Moisei, a wooden church that hosted a monk church with an important role for the Romanians in Maramures. Overnight in Viseu de Jos.

Day 4

Viseu de Jos – Ieud – Barsana- Sighet – Sapanta – Baia Mare

Enjoy a half day trip by the Vaser Valley Forestry Railway, a unique example of technical cultural heritage. Travelling over a network of some 60 kilometers of narrow-gauge track, it is probably the last real forestry railway still operating with steam locos in Europe Continue with a visit at two of the Wooden Churches of Maramureş, considered Unesco heritage – Ieud and Barsana. Take a tour of Memorial of the Victims of Communism and of the Resistance in Sighetul Marmatiei. Drive to Sapanta to visit the Merry Cemetery, unique in the world, amazing due to its originality. The wooden crosses, sculptured and painted by craftsman Stan Patras and the poems writen on them, turned it into an authentic museum. Overnight in Baia Mare.

Baia Mare – Cluj – Turda – Scarisoara Ice Cave - Pisoaia Waterfall - Alba Iulia

In the morning leave Baia Mare and go to discover Cluj town, with its interesting sights: St Michael ‘s Church , one of the finest examples of gothic architecture in Romania, The Tower of the Council, National Theater, The Museum squre – the heart of the Old Fortress of Cluj-Napoca dating back in the 12 – 13 century. Then drive to Alba Iulia, one of the oldest settlements in Romania, where you will be impressed by Alba – Iulia Citadel, a 17th century fortification, recently restored by a dedicated team of architects, masons and sculptors. On your way you will stop to visit Scarisoara Ice Cave, one of the biggest ice caves in the Apuseni Mountains of Romania, in Carpathian chain. It is considered one of the natural wonders of Ro- mania. The ice cave is 105 m deep and 720 m long and was formed 3500 years ago, during the glaciations, when these mountains were covered by snow and ice, although the exact date when the cave was discovered is still unknown. Very near the cave you will Pisoaia Waterfall, one of the most beautiful waterfall in Romania. Overnight in Alba -Iulia.

Day 6

Alba-Iulia - Sibiu

Enjoy a walking tour in the historical center of Sibiu, considered one of the most beautiful and well preserved historical cities in Romania and Europe with an architectural patrimony of over 80 hectares. This fortress town is a pedestrian-friendly city with two easily accessible levels: the Upper town, home to Sibiu’s historic sites and the Lower town lined with colorful houses on cobblestone streets and bounded by imposing city walls and defense towers overlooking the river Cibin. Visit Historical Center, The Bridge of Lies, Holy Trinity Orthodox Cathedral, Brukenthal Museum and Village Museum in Dumbrava. Overnight in Sibiu.

Sibiu – Olt Valley - Bucharest

From Sibiu to Bucharest, the way leads up through spectacular Olt valley, where you’ll stop and visit Cozia Monastery. In the evening transfer to airport for your return flight.
